SLAT 2021 Exam Analysis: Day-Wise Analysis
SLAT 2021 for admission into 5-yr integrated BA LLB/BBA LLB programs at Symbiosis Law Schools (Pune, Noida, Hyderabad and Nagpur campuses) was conducted in online, home proctored mode from 10-12 July 2021
The exam had two parts:
- Part 1 – 60 min, 60 Q of MCQ (5 sections of 12 Q each)
Marking scheme: +1, 0
There was no sectional limit/cut-offs. So, one could move across sections. - Part 2 – Written Ability Test: 30 min. This was compulsory for all students.
Day 1 Analysis: Part 1 (60 min) :
Legal Aptitude: This section had principle-fact & assertion-reason question types. They were based on torts & contracts, criminal law, writs & necessity. Questions were quite straightforward.
Reading Comprehension: RC passages with 4 Q each were short but difficult to comprehend. They were based on misinformation in the media, covid-19 and the medical termination of pregnancy act. Passage length varied from 200-250 words. Most Q were direct and answers could be traced from the passages.
Logical Reasoning: This section had questions based on number series, odd-man-out, blood relationship, analogies, coding-decoding and calendar. The section was easy to moderately difficult.
Analytical Reasoning: Reasoning Q were based on number series, ages, coding-decoding, directions, arrangements and statement-conclusion. 4-5 Q from maths were based on ages, percentages and time-speed-distance. It was a fairly easy section.
General Knowledge: This had a mix of static & current affairs questions. Current affairs questions were based on events from sports, world news and forums, authors etc.
Day 1 Analysis : Part 2 (30 min)
Written Ability Test (WAT): Students had to write about one of the following two topics. There was no upper word limit
Law has unfolded multiple shades of dignity for women in India. However, women in India continue to be within shackles of patriarchy, discrimination & violence.
Use of Information & Communication Technology in the Indian judicial system.
To summarize, the paper was very easy. Cut-offs for the interview shortlist should be as follows:
- SLS Pune – 48-50
- SLS Noida – 42-44
- SLS Hyderabad & Nagpur – 40-42
WAT will be evaluated by respective institute(s)/ programme(s), if a student has registered for them & they shortlist that student on the basis of test score.
