About IPM INDORE

IIM-Indore, instituted in 1996, is the sixth member of the IIM family of management schools. In 2011, IIM – Indore, launched the first of its kind that is its five-year integrated program in management (IPM).

The Program consists of 15 terms spread over a duration of 5 years, with each year having 3 terms of 3 months. The first three years build a foundation, and the last two years focus on management. During the last 2 years, IPM students train as managers along with the students of the Institute’s 2-year Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP), undertaking the same course package in management studies.

On successful completion of the five-year rigorous academic experience, the students are awarded Integrated Diploma in Management by IIM Indore.

IPMAT Indore 2021 Eligibility and Seats

Candidates satisfying the following criteria are eligible to apply for the Five-Year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) of IIM Indore.

1. Minimum 60% in Std. X and Std. XII or equivalent examination, for General and NC-OBC Category.
2. Minimum 55% in Std. X and Std. XII or equivalent examination, for SC, ST and PWD (DA) Category
3. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to the General and NC-OBC Category is 20 years as on July 31, 2021.
4. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to SC, ST and PWD (DA) categories is 22 years as on July 31, 2021.
5. Candidates who are likely to complete Std. XII or equivalent by the end of June 30, 2021, can also apply, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

Note 1: The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in X and XII Standard would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade sheet, irrespective of the Board’s regulation.

Note 2: In case the candidates are awarded letter grades or grade points instead of marks, the conversion of grades to the percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the Board/ Competent Authority.

Note 3: Applicants pursuing their X and/or XII standard from international schools affiliated to foreign Boards like IGCSE and IB can also apply.

Note 4: IIM Indore reserves the right to decide the eligibility conditions in terms of equivalence, percentage marks, and the recognition of the qualifying examination, intake etc.

Sections & Sectional Time limit in IPMAT 2021

Selection Criteria:

A sufficient number of candidates for WAT and PI for each category (General, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PWD/DA) will be shortlisted from the eligible pool using the merit list generated based on Aptitude Test Score (ATS) as mentioned in Table

Computation of Aptitude Test Score (ATS)

Note: Maximum and Minimum scores are the highest and lowest scores obtained in respective sections by the candidates from the eligible pool.

Shortlisted candidates shall appear for the Personal Interview. IIM Indore also expects a consistent and minimum performance in the different parameters of the Personal Interview, which will be decided by the Admissions Committee. Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in any of the parameters will not be considered for the next stage of the selection process.

Final Selection:  Category wise merit list will be generated based on Composite Score (CS) as mentioned in Table and provisional admission offers will be made accordingly, adhering to the Government of India reservation norms.

Points to be Noted:

• Candidates belonging to NC‐OBC, SC, ST and PwD categories need to produce valid Caste/Category certificate(s) in support of their reservation category and candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) need to produce a valid document ascertaining the eligibility of the candidate to apply under EWS category.
• No change in the category will be entertained once the application is submitted.

IPMAT Test / Exam Centers:

Based on the applications received, candidates satisfying minimum eligibility criteria will be called for the Aptitude Test (AT) to be conducted across 34 cities (tentatively) in the country i.e. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh/ Mohali, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Meerut, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Roorkee, Siliguri, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam. However, IIM Indore reserves the right to change the cities/ centres or cancel the centre at any time if the situation so warrants it.

IPMAT Syllabus

Quantitative Ability (60 Questions – 240 Marks):

Numbers, Averages & Percentages, Roots, Indices, Surds, Simple & Compound Interest, Profit & Loss, Algebraic Formulae, Linear & Quadratic Equations, Ratio & Proportion, Partnership, Mixtures & Alligations, Time, Speed & Distance, Work Related Problems, Pipes & Cisterns, Geometry: Lines, Angles & Triangles, Polygons, Circles & Mensuration, Permutations & Combinations, Probability, Determinants, Vectors, Integration and Differentiation.

Verbal Ability (40 Questions – 160 Marks):

Etymology & Roots, Idioms & Phrases, Analogies, Antonyms-Synonyms, Foreign Words Noun & Pronoun Errors, Subject-Verb Agreement, Prepositions and Conjunctions, Tenses, Modifiers & Parallelism, Reading Comprehension, Inference based passages Syllogisms, Logical Consistency, Deductive Reasoning.

IPM Indore 2021 Exam Analysis

IPMAT Indore 2021 was an online, centre-proctored exam, conducted on 16 July from 9.30-11 AM

The test started with the Quant (Short Answers) section, followed by Quant (MCQ) and English sections. Students did not have the option to choose the order of sections. Every section had a time limit of 30 min and students could move to next section only after completing of 30 min of the previous section

Marking scheme = +4, -1: Quant (MCQ) and English sections, +4, 0 for Quant (Short Answers)

Section 1 – Quantitative Aptitude (SA)

The questions were easy level & not time-consuming

Good attempt – 8-9

Good score – 28

Section 2 – Quantitative Aptitude (MCQ)

In the DI table, some data was missing. Hence, the set became tricky to solve. A few Q had ‘Data inadequate’ as an option, which made them more confusing. Questions were of medium-difficult level & lengthy. This section was a little tougher than the 2020 paper.

Good attempt – 10-11

Good score – 32-36

Section 3 – Verbal Ability

English was a very easy section. Many students could attempt 27+ Q. This was the most scoring section in the paper. It was very similar to last year

Good attempt – 26-28

Good score – 84-92

The overall difficulty level of the IPM Indore 2021 paper was moderate.

Section-wise cut-off for the PI shortlist should be – Quant (SA) – 20, Quant (MCQ) – 25, English (71)

140+ should be a good score to increase final conversion chances, with a decent performance in the PI round

With a 130+ score, you will need to do quite well in PI for the final conversion

IPMAT Indore 2020 Analysis

IPM Indore entrance test 2020 was conducted by IIM Indore on 7 September 2020. The exam contained 60 questions across three sections viz. Quantitative Ability (MCQ) – 20 Q, Quantitative Ability (Short Answers) – 10 Q and Verbal Ability – 30 Q. Each section had a time limit of 30 min. One could move to the next section only after the sectional time limit was over, but could not come back to the previous section. The order of sections was pre-defined.

In the Quantitative Ability (MCQ) & Verbal Ability Sections, each correct answer fetched 4 marks and each incorrect one attracted a penalty of 1 mark. In the Quantitative Ability (Short Answers) section, answers had to be typed in the box provided against the question. These questions did not attract any negative marking. Let us look at individual sections.

Section 1 – Quantitative Ability (MCQ) – 20 Questions (30 Min)

Overall, the section was of medium difficulty. Time was a restraint. Instead of solving, elimination options would have helped in 6-8 Q. A good attempt would be 15-16 Q with 80% accuracy

Good score – 45

Section 2 – Quantitative Ability (Short Answers) – 10 Questions (30 Min)

The questions were of easy to medium difficulty. A good attempt would have been 8 Q, with 75-80% accuracy

Good score – 32

Section 3 – Verbal Ability – 30 Questions (30 Min)

This was an easy section and students wouldn’t have missed scoring opportunities if they used available time well. Here was the topic wise break up:

A serious attempt of 30 Q was possible, with 80% accuracy.

Good score – 90

IPM 2019 analysis

IPM entrance test 2019 was conducted by IIM Indore on May 10, 2019. The exam contained 100 questions across three sections viz. Quantitative Ability (MCQ) – 40 Q, Quantitative Ability (Short Answers) – 20 Q and Verbal Ability – 40 Q. Each section had a time limit of 40 min. One could move to the next section any time before the completion of the sectional time limit, but could not come back to the previous section. The order of sections was pre-defined.

In the Quantitative Ability (MCQ) & Verbal Ability Sections, each correct answer fetched 4 marks and each incorrect one attracted a penalty of 1 mark. In the Quantitative Ability (Short Answers) section, answers had to be typed in the box provided against the question. These questions did not attract any negative marking.

Section 1 – Quantitative Ability (MCQ) – 40 Questions (40 Min)

As can be seen, this section had a wide mix of topics. There weren’t many sitters. DI case let was easy. The questions on inequalities could have been solved using options. The questions based on functions were difficult while those based on coordinate geometry were moderately tough, and logarithms were doable. The rest were a mixed lot. The choice of right Q would have made a lot of difference to scoring. 25-28 would have been a good attempt. With 80% accuracy, a good raw score would be 75+.

Section 2 – Quantitative Ability (Short Answers) – 20 Questions (40 Min)

The questions were time-consuming & moderately difficult. A good attempt would have been 10-11 Q. With 75-80% accuracy, one would have earned 28-32 marks as a raw score.

Section 3 – Verbal Ability – 40 Questions (40 Min)

This was an easy section and students wouldn’t have missed scoring opportunities if they used the available time well. Here was the topic wise break up:

There were no pure vocabulary questions. A serious attempt of 35-36 Q was possible. With 80% accuracy, it comes to a raw score of 105.

The overall difficulty level of the exam was similar to that of 2018 & a total raw score of 210 should be good to get a PI-WAT call.
