GATE aspirants must meet GATE 2025 eligibility requirements to take the exam. IISC Bangalore has released the GATE 2025 eligibility criteria on the official website gate2024.iisc.ac.in. However, candidates must meet the GATE 2025 eligibility criteria to qualify for the examination.

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2025 for non-Indian university candidates 

Candidates who obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degree from a country other than India must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the GATE exam:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology: The candidate should have completed or be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology. Also, the course is for a duration of at least four years. 
  2. Postgraduate Degree in Relevant Science Subjects: Candidates must have completed or be in the final year of a postgraduate degree in any relevant science subject. There is at least a two-year duration to the course.

GATE Exam Eligibility Criteria 2025 for international candidates: 

Candidates from nationalities other than India can also apply for the GATE 2024 exam. Furthermore, students from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, UAW, and Ethiopia are eligible to apply. In order to qualify for the GATE exam, candidates must possess a graduate degree in engineering or technology or be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program. Moreover, the candidates who have completed or are in their final year of post-graduation in any science field are also eligible for this program. 

GATE Exam Eligibility 2025- Documents required 

  1. All candidates must submit their degree certificate/provisional certificate as issued by a recognized institution.
  2. Candidates should be in their final year and upload their provisional certificate issued by the Head of the Institute, Dean, Registrar, or head of Department. Additionally, they may submit a copy of the mark sheet for Section A of AMIE, etc.
  3. Candidates for the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) section must upload a PwD certificate issued by a recognized authority. 

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2025 for M.Tech courses
GATE-qualified candidates will be offered admission to M.Tech programs at several NITs, IIITs, and CFTs. However, there will be no separate counselling process for GATE, and candidates will need to apply separately for each counselling process. Besides, the candidates seeking admission to M.Tech programs at IITs are required to register separately for GATE 2024 through COAP. Meanwhile, the candidates seeking admission to IIITs, NITs, and some CFTIs must apply through centralized counselling for M.Tech 2024 (CCMT).

GATE Age Limit 2025
The GATE Exam 2024 does not have a specific age limit for candidates. However, the test is designed for candidates interested in applying to expert courses in their field of specialization, so there is no upper age limit.

The number of attempts for GATE 2025
GATE 2024 has no limit on the number of attempts. Also, the candidate who meets the academic eligibility requirements can take the GATE exam. Hence, before registering for the GATE exam, be sure to read the eligibility requirements.
