The Common Admission Test (CAT 2024) was held by the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, on November 24th, 2024. Candidates have been eagerly awaiting the release of the CAT 2024 answer key and the response sheet so that they can check their scores and percentiles. The wait is anticipated to end within the first week of the paper wrapping up. Based on the provisional CAT answer key 2024, students are also permitted to raise objections before the final CAT answer key is released.

1. Visit the official website iimcat.ac.in.
2. Click on the candidate login tab on the homepage. 
3. Enter your CAT registration ID and password. 
4. The CAT 2024 answer key will be displayed on the screen. 
5. View and download the answer key.
6. Use the candidate’s response tab to download the CAT response sheet 2024. 
7. The CAT Answer key for 2024 will comprise important information like the candidate’s name, registration number, exam date and time, questions, exam centre, type of questions, status, and correct options/answers.

How to challenge the CAT 2024 Answer key? 

Candidates must first calculate their scores using the Answer Key and the CAT response sheet PDF. You will receive 3 marks for each correct answer, and for each incorrect answer, you will receive 1 mark. Only MCQs are subject to negative markings.

Students can also use the CAT 2024 score calculator tool by IMS to get an accurate idea of their probable scores and percentiles. All you need to do is upload your response sheet into the tool, and you’ll be shown what your percentile might be. The tool is helpful for students to start preparing for their GDPI and WAT processes for various colleges.

According to the cut-offs of IIMs, IITs, and other MBA colleges, the candidate can know which colleges they can get into based on their percentile. The candidate can also raise any discrepancy in the CAT Answer key 2024. 

The provisional CAT answer key will be open for challenge for 2-3 days, with a payment of INR 1,200 per objection. If the objections are accepted, the final answer key and results will be released in the second week of January 2025.

1. The Answer Key release makes the CAT exam transparent. 
2. Test takers can check the official CAT answer keys and arrive at their likely CAT score to explore their chances for MBA admission in 2024 in IIMs, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, IIFT, and IITs, among other colleges. CAT score accepting colleges can be chosen based on the score they would receive.
3. The candidate who is not satisfied with the CAT 2024 answer keys can challenge any answer by submitting an objection to CAT Centre 2024 to get it redressed after paying a requisite fee of Rs.1200.
4. The CAT centre will review candidates’ objections after releasing the CAT slot-wise answer keys. IIMs will not entertain objections if they do not perceive any changes in the CAT answer key.

How to check your raw score using the CAT answer key 2024?

Once you have downloaded the CAT answer key 2024, you can follow these steps to check your raw score:

1. You get +3 for every right answer.
2. Deduct -1 for every wrong answer.
3. No marks are awarded for unattempted questions.
4. Remember, TITA questions have no negative marking.

For instance, let’s say you attempted a total of 27 questions, including 6 TITA questions.

Based on the table above:

1. There are 23 right answers.
2. There are 4 incorrect answers, including 2 TITA questions.

So, your score would be (23*3) – 2 = 67 marks

This is your raw score without any normalisation. Your final CAT score will be released in early January. That score will include the impact of normalisation across the 3 slots.
