Delhi University CUET Cutoff 2024 (Latest Round) – College and course-wise

29 August, 2024
Parthiva Mewawala

The Delhi University colleges have released the first merit list for 2024 admissions. While there have been a few surprises, the trends have largely remained the same as the previous years. We’ve added the Delhi University CUET cutoff (college-wise) below. Keep checking this space to remain updated with all the latest news.

The CUET exam was successfully conducted by the NTA in pen and paper mode between the 15th and 18th of May 2024 and in CBT mode between the 21st and 24th of May 2024. Accepted by over 250 universities, including the country’s top central universities such as DU, BHU, JNU, Jamia Millia, and Allahabad University, CUET is the gateway exam for candidates aspiring to pursue Science, Commerce, and Humanities courses in the country’s best colleges. And on top of most aspirants’ college preference lists is Delhi University, with over 25 lakh registrations. Considered by most experts to be the most competitive university to land a seat at, DU boasts of extremely high cutoffs, especially for the North campus colleges. Only those students who clear the very high Delhi University CUET cutoff can hope to get admission.

Delhi university CUET cutoff

Now that the CUET exam is over, students are eagerly waiting for the CUET DU cutoff to be announced along with the results. According to a preliminary assessment, student opinions, and expert reviews, the CUET cutoffs for Science courses are expected to be lower than last year. While Arts DU cutoffs will pretty much remain stable, the Commerce cutoffs will go up due to the lower difficulty of Humanities domain subjects. For a more detailed outlook on the probable Delhi University CUET cutoff for 2024, read the blog below.

Delhi University CUET Cutoff (Expected) – Science stream

Students in the Science stream primarily gun for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English, and the General test. Compared to last year, the physics paper was considerably harder, with far more numericals than students had anticipated. Chemistry, too, was harder than before, with significant weightage devoted to the Aldehyde, Ketone, and Carboxylic Acid chapter from NCERT. On the other hand, the Biology exam was of a moderate level and largely mirrored last year’s paper. Students faced trouble with the Maths paper owing to its harder difficulty level. There were tricky questions; even easy questions were made confusing with tricky options. In fact, many students also claimed that some questions were closer to the JEE Mains level than NCERT. In English, half the paper was composed of reading comprehension questions with a reduced focus on grammar. The General test had several current affairs questions but the level of difficulty remained manageable.

CUET DU cutoff (Expected)- Science stream

  1. For the DU North campus colleges, our assessment suggests that BSc. (Hons) courses for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will have a cutoff of around 520-550 out of 600.
  2. For BSc. (Hons) Mathematics and Computer Science, the cutoff will hover around 720/800.
  3. For BTech (IT and MI), students should score around 600-610/650 to land a seat in the most in-demand colleges. Due to the higher competition, the cutoff for the BTech program will go up from last year.

Delhi University CUET Cutoff (Expected) – Commerce stream

Commerce students primarily sit for Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, Mathematics, English, and the General test. The Economics paper took a detour from last year’s pattern and had fewer questions on National Income. Instead, it presented many facts and figures based on questions about the National Economy. On the other hand, the Business Studies paper was more balanced, with most students happy with the outcome. 25 questions were directly from NCERT, giving students the opportunity to do well. Accountancy also turned out to be easier than the previous year with more conceptual questions as opposed to lengthy numericals. The Mathematics, English, and General test data can be found in the table above.

General test 6,71,574 7,21,986

CUET DU cutoff (Expected) – Commerce stream

  1. For BCom at the top colleges such as Ramjas and Kirori Mal, the cutoff will remain around the same levels as last year at 760-775/800. For colleges such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Sri Venkateswara, students scoring above 740-760 will be able to secure seats. For Dyal Singh and Atmaram Sanatan, the cutoffs will remain around 700-720
  2. To pursue BCom (Hons) in a top college such as SRCC, students will need to score above 785/800. For Kirori Mal, Hindu, DCAC, and Hansraj, a score above 775 should suffice. Sri Venkateswara and Ramjas will require a score of 770+ to get a call in the first list.

Delhi University CUET Cutoff (Expected)- Humanities stream

Humanities students largely pick History, Political Science, and Geography as their domain subjects apart from English and the General test. The History paper was slightly harder than last year with more in-depth questions about key events. While there were some passage-based questions, most of the questions stemmed from NCERT textbooks. To the surprise of many students, the Political Science paper was much easier than expected. No assertion reasoning or chronological order questions were asked despite holding significant importance. The Geography paper level became slightly harder than before with more facts and figures-based questions along with 10 case study-based questions. Most of the paper, again, was from NCERT but recalling all the data proved to be hard for many students. The Mathematics, English, and General test data can be found in the table above.

CUET DU cutoff (Expected) – Humanities stream

  1. BA (Hons) Political Science in the top colleges, such as Hindu, will require a score of 792+/800, showing a slight increase compared to last year. Atmaram Sanatan Dharma and Dyal Singh will require around 775+, while GTB Khalsa and Ramanujan will need around 740+.
  2. Pursuing BA (Hons) History in a college as highly regarded as St. Stephen’s will also need a score of 792+/800. For slightly lower-ranked colleges such as Sri Venkateswara and DCAC, scoring 785+ should do the trick. Colleges such as GTB Khalsa and Deshbandhu can be sorted with a score of 760+.

We’ll keep updating these numbers as new data pours in. The competition for DU remains very high, and many students fail to get admitted into their preferred colleges. If you are one of them, consider dropping a year and taking up dedicated coaching to make sure you do better next year. The IMS CUET Live Online program is designed to help you ace the CUET through targeted live sessions, on-demand video lectures, 15+ full-length mock tests, AI-enabled practice questions, and post-exam college counselling sessions.
