JIPMAT Syllabus 2025: 3 Sections, Subject-wise Syllabus
Summary: The JIPMAT syllabus is designed in accordance with the guidelines specified by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The Indian Institute of Management Jammu and the Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya comply with these established guidelines and regulations to ensure the integrity and excellence of the JIPMAT programme.
The Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for candidates aspiring to join the five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. The program aims to equip students with advanced managerial and decision-making skills using a multidisciplinary curriculum that meets global standards.
Selection Process
The admission process for the IPM programme at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya is simple, requiring candidates to appear for the written assessment through JIPMAT solely. Both institutes release merit lists based on their respective criteria for qualified candidates. At IIM Jammu, candidates must achieve a sectional cut-off of 50 percentile (General Category) in each section. For IIM Bodh Gaya, the minimum qualifying sectional raw scores are determined after the results are announced, depending on the overall pool of candidates.

JIPMAT Exam Pattern
This exam evaluates a candidate’s proficiency across three sections, the details of which are in the table below.

Since no sectional time limit exists, students can switch between sections and strategise their time efficiently.

JIPMAT Syllabus 2025
Quantitative Aptitude
Topics tested in the exam are Number Systems, Equations, Polynomials, Progressions, Percentages, Profit and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Time Speed Distance, Geometry, Mensuration, Permutation Combination, Probability, Set Theory, Functions and Graphs.
Most of the questions in Quantitative Aptitude are easy, but they are time-consuming. You will come across 3 to 4 questions with 2 Statements, and each Statement is a different question by itself. Hence, we are actually not solving 4 questions, but we are solving 8.

Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation
Logical Reasoning comprises Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Clocks, Calendar, Arrangements, Puzzles.
Most of the questions in the Logical Reasoning sections are easy, and students will be able to attempt all of them.
Data Interpretation comprises 2 to 3 sets, each with 3 to 4 questions. The questions could be based on Bar Graphs, Pie Charts, Line Graphs, Tables, or Caselets.
Verbal Reasoning comprises about 8-10 questions on an easy-to-moderate difficulty level and covers topics such as Analogy, Statement-Conclusion, Cause-Effect, Statement-Assumptions, etc.
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
Reading Comprehension:
It typically involves two passages (250-300 words), each with five questions.
Topics can range from economics, history, and science to current affairs and more.
Question types broadly involve specific details, main idea, tone, title, inference and contextual vocabulary.
Vocabulary
Vocabulary is assessed through a variety of question formats. The key areas include Synonyms, Antonyms, One-word Substitution, Idioms, Phrases, Foreign Words, and Cloze Tests, which typically feature short passages with 4-5 fill-in-the-blank questions. Students can expect approximately 12-13 vocabulary questions.
Grammar: This section includes questions on Sentence Correction, Connectors, Spotting Errors, and Fill-in-the-Blanks. Based on the trend, 8-10 Grammar-based questions can be expected.
Verbal Reasoning:
Includes Parts of a Sentence/Sentence Rearrangement (Para-jumbles). (Expect 1-2 questions)
JIPMAT Syllabus: Preparation Plan for JIPMAT 2025
Quantitative Aptitude
Focus on strengthening your basics. As we have more than 1 minute per question, we can actually look at taking time to solve the questions. Solve at least 30 to 40 questions from all the topics. Make sure you take all the past Actual JIPMAT Mocks to get used to the types of questions that are asked. And keep taking mocks regularly to know where you stand.
Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation
For Logical Reasoning, start by solving easy questions and then move on to the difficult ones. Solve 3 to 5 sets of LR every day. Each day, we can practice 3 to 5 sets of different topics. As said earlier, make sure you take all the past Actual JIPMAT Mocks to get used to the types of questions that are asked. And keep taking mocks regularly to know where you stand in preparation.
For Data Interpretation, work on mental calculations to avoid time-consuming calculations. Solve at least 2 to 3 sets per day. Learn to analyze patterns in data. Rounding of numbers may help in quick calculations.
Verbal Ability
Master Reading Comprehension: Dedicate 30 minutes daily to reading editorials, books, and magazines to strengthen comprehension and reasoning. Focus on understanding viewpoints and identifying assumptions. Solve 2-3 reading comprehension passages weekly, focusing on varying difficulty levels. Practise factual, inferential, and critical reasoning questions.
Vocabulary Building: Learn five new words or phrases daily, including their meanings, usage, and etymology. Revise weekly and incorporate them into conversations.

Grammar Proficiency: Master basic grammar rules like sentence structure, tenses, and punctuation. Practise sentence correction and error spotting using study materials.
