About SET

Symbiosis International University (SIU) is a private co-educational, multi-institutional university located in Pune, Maharashtra. The University offers academic programs in seven faculties at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The university has 31 Institutes / Departments spread across 5 campuses located at Pune, Nashik, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida.

Symbiosis centre for management located in Pune is one among the best B-school for BBA program. Apart from the regular BBA degree, Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR) offers BBA (IT) for students who aspire to build their career in IT industry. Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is the common written test for the admission processes for undergraduate studies in the institutes of Symbiosis International University.

SET is only the first step. Each Symbiosis institute has its independent selection process. Students are short listed for personal interview (PI) and written aptitude test (WAT) on the basis of their performance in SET. SET has five different papers; general, design, law, engineering and health.  

 

SET 2022 Eligibility

Students who wish to pursue BBA program through the institutes of Symbiosis University should appear for SET. The eligibility criteria for SET 2020 are as follows:

  1. Passed XII or its equivalent in any discipline from any recognized Board with minimum 50% marks for open category.
  2. Minimum marks for students belonging to SC and ST category is 45%.
  3. Candidate who has appeared for their H.S.C finals and awaiting results are also eligible to apply, subject to submission of passing certificate by the notified date.
  4. Applicants who have obtained 10+2 through Open Universities system directly without having any basic qualification are not eligible for the Course.
  5. There is no upper age limit for SET.

Mode: Online

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions

No. of Questions: 60

Duration: 1.5 Hours (60 mins of test + 30 mins of written ability test)

  • No Negative Marking

SET 2021 Analysis

SET 2021 for admission into multiple Symbiosis programs after 12th (BBA, BBA (IT), Economics, BCA, Mass Communication, liberal arts) in Pune, Noida & Nagpur campuses was conducted in online, home proctored mode from 10-12 July 2021

Exam had two parts

  • Part 1 – 60 min, 60 Q of MCQ
    Marking scheme: +1, 0
    There was no sectional time limit/cut-offs. So, one could move across sections
  • Part 2 – Written Ability Test: 30 min. This was compulsory for all students

Day 1 analysis

Part 1 (60 min)

  • English (16 Q)
    The section had 3 Q on para jumbles, 1 RC passage, 2 Q on sentence correction, 3-4 Q on antonyms-synonyms, 2-3 Q on identification of grammatically correct sentences, 2 Q on idioms-phrases, 1 Q on active-passive voice conversion. It was a scoring section.
  • Quantitative Aptitude (16 Q)
    In this section, 1-2 Q were from percentages, SI-CI, logarithm, number application, sequences & series, time-speed-distance, 2 Q from geometry, 1 each from probability & P&C. It was easy-moderate section.
  • General Knowledge (16 Q)
    Most Q were from current affairs, but a few were from static GK also. The key topics covered were world news & forums, personalities, world days, government news, awards, sports, establishment, defence. This was of moderate difficulty.
  • Analytical & logical reasoning (12 Q)
    This section had 1-2 Q from clocks-calendars & series each, 2 Q from family tree, 2-3 Q from coding-decoding, 1 Q on linear arrangement, 2 Q from cause and effect & 1 on verbal analogy

Part 2 (30 min)

WAT topics

Students had to write about one of the following two topics. There was no upper word limit

  • Work from home is affecting work-life balance
  • It doesn’t matter what you have, what really matters is what you do with what you have

To summarize, the paper was very easy. Cut-offs for interview shortlist should be as follows 

  • BBA – Pune – 44-45, Noida 38-40, Nagpur – 36-38
  • Mass Comm – 42-44
  • Other programs – 40+

WAT will be evaluated by respective institute (s)/ programme(s), if student has registered for them & if they shortlist that student on the basis of test score.
