Times Bihar Scholars programme is an endeavor to encourage school students of class IX to XII to develop a reading habit that helps them understand our society and environment better. This will guide them efficiently to write the future of the country.
The Times of India will carry ONE article per day across a range of fields like current affairs, science & technology, sports, politics, social issues, global developments, etc. over a span of 30 days. These articles will provide multi-dimensional perspectives to help students get a deeper understanding of various interesting subjects. In the end, there would be an online test to assess the students’ understanding & perspective.
Current students of classes IX to XII can apply for this programme. They should be residents of Bihar, studying in an Educational Institute in the State. The programme is free for all. No registration fee is applicable.

The final examination paper will have the following format:
50 Multiple Choice Questions to be attempted in 60 minutes.
25 questions will be based on the articles appearing in TOI
25 questions will be based on aptitude
Mock questions will be printed in TOI during July 2022. It is highly recommended that the students practice them to understand the flow of the final examination.
Times Bihar Scholarship articles will be published from 1st July to 30th July 2022.
The online examination is scheduled for 7th August, with the test window accessible between 8 AM to 11:59 PM. The test duration is for 60 minutes. The examination comprises 50 Multiple Choice Questions, 25 questions based on aptitude, and 25 questions based on the articles that appeared in The Times of India between 1st July, to 30th July 2022.

School students residing and studying in Bihar can apply for this program in different levels:
Participant can be defined as an individual/student, the details of the student to be furnished during registration process.
All participant’s details will be verified through an SMS/Email. Please make sure that you get your DND removed through your operator.
The winners will be adjudged basis their score achieved in the final Contest scholarship examination. The selection of winners and distribution of prizes shall completely rest with Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd.
There will be 3 stages of the Contest:
Participant is supposed to make sure that the exam needs to be given on a stable machine (PC, laptop, tab, or mobile phone) with adequate power supply, compatible browser, and strong internet connectivity.
BCCL and its associates/partners cannot be hold responsible for any loss of time during the exam or inability to give the exam due to any unforeseen and un-accounted circumstances, arising out of weak internet connection, inadequate power supply, malfunctioning of the machine or any other natural calamities or social/civic engagements affecting the participant.
BCCL solely reserves the right to selection of candidates’ basis their performance scores in the Contest, based on BCCL parameters.
BCCL solely reserves the right to modify/add to the above-mentioned terms & conditions.
This Contest is organised by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (“BCCL” or “Management”); organizers and responsible for the overall conduct of the same in India. The Contest will be hosted with the start and end dates as decided by BCCL. BCCL reserves the right to modify, cancel, discontinue, or terminate the Contest at any time or to accept or reject any or all entries at their absolute discretion, without giving any prior notice, and without assigning any reasons whatsoever. Decision of BCCL will be final and binding on all Participants and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Participants hereby agree not to provide or make known his/her e-mail address to any other person for facilitating such person's access and unauthorized use.

Participants hereby agree that upon posting Information or conducting communications, he/she grants BCCL and its successors and assigns a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, unrestricted license under your copyrights or other intellectual property rights in such Information or communications, if any, to use, license, sub-license, adapt, distribute, display, publicly perform, reproduce, transmit, modify, edit and create derivative works from such material in any and all media, in any manner, in whole or in part, now known or hereafter developed without any duty to account to the participant.
Participant hereby waives all rights to any claim against BCCL or its affiliates and Times Bihar Scholars partners for any alleged or actual infringement of any proprietary rights, rights of privacy and publicity, moral rights, and rights of attribution about such Information or Communications.
Participant grants BCCL the right to authorize the downloading and printing of such Information or communications, or any portion thereof, by other users for their use.
Participant hereby agrees that BCCL may, in their sole discretion, terminate or suspend his/her access to all or part of Times Bihar Scholars for any reason, including, without limitation, breach of these Terms and Conditions (or any subsequent modifications here of)
Participant hereby agrees that BCCL, its affiliates, and any independent contractor and Times Bihar Scholars associates/partners engaged by BCCL to assist in moderating or organising the Contest , shall not be liable in any way, and the Participant hereby also agrees to indemnify and hold harmless The Times of India/BCCL, its affiliates, and any independent contractor and Contestassociates/partners to assist in moderating the Times Bihar Scholars, from any claim, demand, proceeding, damages, injuries, liabilities, losses, costs or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) made by any third party relating to or arising out of:
interruption of any such data or information due either to any negligent act or omission by the Times Bihar Scholars or BCCL or to any "force majeure" (i.e., flood, extraordinary weather conditions, earthquake, or other act of God, fire, war, insurrection, riot, labour dispute, accident, action of government, communications power failure, or equipment or software malfunction) or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of BCCL.
Winners of these Prizes will be announced during or at the end of the Contest period based on random selection of eligible Participants registered for the Contest.
Gifts above Rs. 10,000/- (Indian Rupees Ten Thousand only) will attract Gift Tax and this will be solely borne by the Winner.
Winners’ will be contacted separately for acknowledging the acceptance of the big prize. Each Participant will be given 72 hours to respond with confirmation and know your client (“KYC”) documents.
If the Winner fails to give the confirmation in the defined timeline, Contest Management has the right to select the next Winner in line for the Contest.
Participant has to provide additional information as may be required to complete the documentation process.
The Participants needs to submit (any one of the following documents) if they are shortlisted as winners:
In case, the Participant fails to submit the above documents within the stipulated time, they would be disqualified from the Contest.
The Contest Management will confirm the details provided by the Participant through e-mail and/or SMS/WhatsApp on the mobile number provided at the time of registration
There shall be no refund or return of the Gift Tax amount once the Participant has given the consent and paid the actual Gift Tax amount to BCCL. BCCL will not be responsible for any rejection of prizes post receiving payment of the Gift Tax amount
Winners may have to travel, if required, for collecting the reward/prizes on their own travel expense. BCCL will not be making any travel/boarding & lodgings arrangements for the Participants regarding the same. Any costs borne by the Participant for the redemption of the prize will be borne by the Participant exclusively.
The number of prizes to be given are subject to change/modification.
The prizes provided will not be the responsibility of BCCL. The role of BCCL is to arrange and deliver the prizes to the winners. The merchantability and warranty for such prizes vests with the respective manufacturer of the prize.
These rewards may be modified without any prior notification by the Contest Management. The Participant is advised to review the Terms of the Contest regularly.
The prizes shall neither be transferable nor exchangeable for cash or otherwise.
BCCL shall not be held responsible for the final quality or condition of the gifts/prizes provided by the manufacturer.
The final eligibility of the Participant will be subject to the discretion and approval of the Contest Management.
BCCL,its affiliates and the Contest associates/partners shall not be liable to you or any third party for any claims related to your termination from the Times Bihar Scholars.
BCCL is providing this Times Bihar Scholars website and its contents on an "as is" basis and makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of this website or the content, information and materials contained within or accessible through this site, including, without limitation, that they are accurate, complete, or current.
BCCL's decision will be final and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. The entries shall be the sole property of BCCL, who shall be free to use the same for any promotional or other activities in future.
BCCL holds no warranty and makes no representation regarding the quality of the prizes, if any. All the prizes will fall under the standard terms and conditions for warranty as defined by the concerned Company by whom the gratification is sponsored/ manufactured. Participants are solely responsible for any expenses incurred in participating in the Contest or in the acceptance and use of the prizes. BCCL and sponsors shall not be responsible for any loss or damages suffered by the winners while availing the offer.
BCCL and group company employees and their children cannot participate in the Contest.
BCCL reserves the right to contact Participants for various promotions & offers and use their personal datato solicit/advertise other business/other service offerings of their own or third-parties.
